In order to focus on the frontier of digestion, lead clinical practice, and explore research hot spots in this field, the 12th GIGIS, hosted by the Guangdong Medical Association, was successfully held online on October 14-16, 2022. Products from EndoFresh® has been widely recognized and praised by experts and doctors.
The conference invited well-known experts at home and abroad, like Israel, Singapore, the United States and Hong Kong to discuss inflammatory bowel disease, functional gastrointestinal diseases, digestive endoscopy and gastrointestinal diseases.
On Oct 14, 2022, at the endoscopy special satellite meeting, Professor Luo Xiaobei from Guangzhou Nanfang Hospital, brought us a Special sharing of "EndoFresh® Opens a New Era of Disposable Endoscopy - Clinical Application of Disposable Endoscope at the Emergency Bedside".
Dr. Luo introduced that EndoFresh® disposable gastroscopes were used in this study, which is open and single-arm designed, and the technical success rate is the main indicator. From November 2021 to January 2022, a total of 30 patients underwent emergency bedside intraoperative gastroscopy. The research results show that EndoFresh® disposable gastroscope is safe and effective for emergency bedside intraoperative endoscopy. The technical success rate was 100%, and the quality of photography, the pass rate of clinical operation experience evaluation, and the equipment failure or the defect rate and adverse event rate are nearly the same as traditional endoscopes.
Dr. Luo pointed out the study also proves other potential advantages of disposable gastroscopes in emergency bedside surgery:
·Compared with reusable endoscopes, disposable endoscopes are lighter in weight and take up less space and are more suitable for diagnosis and treatment during emergency bedside operations.
·Disposable endoscopes can eliminate the risk of cross-infection and have unique clinical value especially in dealing with the risk of unknown infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
·With its flexibility and lightness, disposable endoscopes are more suitable for special diagnosis and treatment such as disaster relief field operations, mobile hospitals, and response to unknown infectious diseases.
