Highlights | EndoFresh® debuted at the 2023 Chinese Conference of Digestive Endoscopology

2023-11-05

From November 3 to 5, 2023, the 2023 Chinese Conference of Digestive Endoscopology, hosted by the Chinese Medical Association and the Digestive Endoscopy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, was successfully held at the Xiaohe International Conference Center in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province.

On the afternoon of November 3, 2023, at the digestive branch venue of the equipment research and development collaboration group, Professor Bi Yawei from the Department of Gastroenterology, First Medical Center, PLA General Hospital, gave us a sharing on the theme of "Experiences on the Application of Disposable Endoscopes in POEM Treatment".

They conducted a clinical study on the application experience of disposable endoscopes in POEM treatment. The results showed that EndoFresh® disposable gastroscope can be safely used in POEM treatment. The technical success rate and average gastric muscle incision length are comparable to those of traditional endoscopes.

On the afternoon of November 4, 2023, at the digestive branch venue of the emergency endoscopy collaboration group, Professor Wang Min from the Department of Gastroenterology at the Special Medical Center of the Strategic Support Forces brought us "The Application of Disposable Portable Gastrointestinal Endoscopy System in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding" as the sharing title.

The Medical Center conducted a clinical study on the application of a disposable portable gastrointestinal endoscopy system in the diagnosis and treatment of acute gastrointestinal bleeding: a total of 18 patients in the disposable group underwent emergency bedside surgery, and the technical success rate was 100%. There were 5 cases of peptic ulcer, 4 cases of polyp postoperative bleeding, 2 cases of tumor bleeding, 2 cases of anastomotic ulcer, 1 case of esophageal variceal rupture, 1 case of gastric stromal tumor bleeding, 1 case of hemorrhoids and bleeding, and anal fissure and 1 case of bleeding.

The research results show that the EndoFresh® disposable portable gastrointestinal endoscopy system is safe and effective for use in emergency bedside gastrointestinal bleeding endoscopic diagnosis and treatment indications, in terms of technical success rate, operability, device failure rate and safety. Both are equivalent to traditional multiplex endoscopes. However, the equipment preparation time and transportation process are significantly shortened (p<0.05), and subsequent decontamination of the endoscope is not required.

On the afternoon of the same day,at the digestive branch venue of surgical group,Professor Li Zhengqi from the General Surgery Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital gave us a sharing on the theme of "Disposable Electronic Gastroscope-Assisted Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Insertion".

Professor Li Zhengqi introduced, there are still unmet clinical needs for surgery. Especially in combined laparoscopic-endoscopic technique, manual disinfection of traditional endoscopes is incomplete, involving the risk of cross-infection; cleaning takes a long time and is inconvenient; and the sterilization effect cannot meet surgical requirements.

Disposable endoscopes do not need to be decontaminated, and the sterility requirements can meet surgical needs. For special patients, there is no need to worry about the risk of cross-infection and additional cleaning burden.

China-Japan Friendship Hospital’s case sharing on disposable electronic gastroscope-assisted peritoneal dialysis catheter placement shows that EndoFresh® disposable electronic gastroscope can be used to insert peritoneal dialysis catheters and has the following advantages:

1. Reduce one operating hole and reduce the laparoscopic surgery channel, which is especially beneficial to the recovery of patients with end-stage renal disease.
2. Compared with laparoscopy, gastroscopy is more flexible in guiding the operator during surgery.
3. The lens cleaning function avoids repeated wiping of the mirror, reduces the time of going in and out of the laparoscope, and saves operation time.
4. The matching biopsy forceps can be inserted into the instrument channel of the gastroscope to assist in adjusting the position of the fixed wire.
5. The reverse mirror function can observe whether there is bleeding under the surgical hole that cannot be seen by laparoscopy, and make early judgment and intervention to reduce surgical complications.

At the same time, Dr. Li also shared that EndoFresh® disposable electronic gastroscope has a better intraoperative suction than laparoscopy during mastectomy, which can ensure the surgical field of view clear better and faster.

The EndoFresh® disposable digestive endoscope system is the world's first disposable digestive endoscope system to obtain NMPA, FDA and CE certification.

The EndoFresh® disposable digestive endoscope system (portable host + fully disposable disposable endoscope) also has sterile packaging, one lens per person; 1920*1080 full high-definition image, ≥3.0mm channel, with secondary water supply and cleaning functions to ensure The diagnosis and treatment images are clear; it can meet the unmet clinical needs of traditional digestive endoscopy.
